THE
TRAVEL ROUTES
|
|
For
the fixed tours we offer, the route, it's duration
and the travel period are fixed.
You can find the offers under the various categories
here on this website. A
maximum number of participants is usually given
for the fixed offers for
guided tours.

For
the vast
majority of self-drive tours
- regardless of whether they are driven as camping
tours, with overnight stays in lodges and guesthouses
or as a bush safari, we
design the tour together with our clients.
-
What do you want to see and experience and where
you like to travel? - Planned
travel period? - See also - climate
zones and travel season! -
How much time is available? - With how many people
do you want to go on tour? - Accommodation
in
hotels, lodges, national park camps
(...category...)
or
on campsites?

There
are a few more basic
considerations
that you should consider when planning your vacation: -
The
travel destination determines the routes to be traveled
and these determine the vehicles
and their equipment.
See also: The
selection of vehicles and equipment. -
You should also have a realistic idea of what you
can do driving. Especially if you are planning a
tour of the wilderness.
Round
trip or "one-way"?
A question of time - and here is an example: You
can take a tour of the Cape wine region - Little
Karoo - Garden Route - Addo Elephant National Park
as a round trip. But you may also start the trip
from Cape Town and the flight home from Port Elizabeth.
When applicable, there is
the usual one-way surcharge for the rental car -
but it is not dramatic.
The
one-way surcharge only plays a greater role if you
want to return the rental car in another country.
For tours into remote
regions of Namibia, or to Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia...
etc. - the one-way surcharge is indeed significant.

You
can choose the route virtually freely along the
popular routes within South Africa, Namibia, Botswana
and towards Victoria Falls or the Hwange (Wankie)
National
Park.
Of course, the seasonal booking situation, possible
road closures (due to construction work or weather-related)
etc. must be taken into account. In any case, we
will advise you on the route and also find
solutions if problems should arise anywhere.

One of our experiences,
however, we ask you to take into account during the first planning:
Please
never try to squeeze a three-week tour into a two-week window! You
can spoil the best vacation with that.
Sure
- everyone wants to see and experience as much as possible after
a long flight to southern Africa.
But if your vacation is not enough for visiting everything this
year, then
come back later.
“Scratching”
miles just to check off as many sights as possible does not bring
a truly viable vacation memory. It could be the most beautiful place
on earth - but
why should you go there when there is ultimately no time to look
at something?
